First Steps Maternity Support Services (MSS) was created to help women get the medical and social services they need during pregnancy, delivery, and beyond. All pregnant women covered under Medicaid are eligible for MSS services. 

Our professional team includes a Registered Nurse, Nutritionist, Behavioral Health Specialist, Community Health Worker, and an Infant Case Manager to advise and support you throughout your pregnancy. Depending on your circumstances, you may receive support until your baby’s first birthday. Women who have no medical coverage or partial medical coverage may also be eligible for First Steps.

  • Information and education about pregnancy, labor and delivery
  • Diet and nutrition counseling
  • Information and education about baby care and parenting skills
  • Assistance in accessing dental and vision care
  • Childbirth Education Classes
  • Family Planning services
  • Assistance in obtaining paternity information
  • Assistance with housing and transportation
  • Substance abuse counseling
  • Breastfeeding support
