Moses Lake Community Health Center Project to Improve Access for Patients

Moses Lake, WA - Construction activity near Moses Lake Community Health Center is part of a long-planned project aimed at making it easier for patients to reach the clinic while reducing traffic through surrounding neighborhoods.

Moses Lake Community Health Center (MLCHC) is currently working on an extension of Coolidge Street that will connect directly to Wheeler Road. Once completed, the new roadway will provide patients with a more direct route to the clinic campus from a main roadway rather than traveling through residential streets.

According to MLCHC CEO Sheila Berschauer, the project has been several years in the making.

“This project has been part of our long-term vision to improve access to care for our patients,” said Berschauer. “We serve thousands of people from across Grant County and making it easier for patients to reach our clinic safely and efficiently is incredibly important.”

Over the past six years, MLCHC purchased three properties along East Terrace with the goal of eventually extending Coolidge Street through to Wheeler Road. The homes were demolished in November to make way for the roadway, and construction on the extension officially began in February.

Berschauer said the project reflects the health center’s continued investment in both its patients and the surrounding community.

“We have worked closely with the City of Moses Lake to make this project possible, but the vision has always been about improving access for our patients while also being mindful of our neighbors,” Berschauer said. “Once completed, this route will help reduce traffic through residential areas while providing a much more convenient way for patients to reach our campus.”

The project is expected to be completed this spring, with construction anticipated to wrap up around the end of April, weather permitting. During construction, a portion of Coolidge Street is temporarily closed to through traffic while crews complete the roadway extension.

When finished, the new connection will offer a smoother and more direct route for patients, staff, and visitors traveling to the clinic.

“We appreciate the patience of our neighbors and community during construction,” Berschauer said. “This project is ultimately about making healthcare more accessible for the people we serve.”
